Greg Cooks, mononymously known as Puntin, is an American Christian hip hop artist, entrepreneur, and record producer. He is the president, co-owner and founder of the independent record label Puntanious Entertainment, and the founder and president of the non-profit organization King Christ Movement Ministries. To date, he has released six studio albums and ten mixtapes as a solo artist.
Puntin debuted with Rap'n Rev in 2007 through Worldwide Impact Records. Puntin began garnering national attention when he performed at the 2011 BET Music Matters Showcase in LA, California. On December, 14, 2011, Puntin released his first mixtape, Champion, which pushed over 3,500 units. [1] Considering his buzz from Champion, Puntin released his most popular mixtape, Bananas 1, December, 30, 2012, the mixtape was downloaded over 7,000 times. His sixth album, Back to the Basics, came out on April, 22, 2014, and it became his first Christian hip-hop album to chart on the iTunes Hip-Hop/Rap chart. The album debuted at No. 12 on Amazon Gospel. Puntin has performed on the same stages as Kirk Franklin, Tye Tribbett, James Fortune, Ludacris, Mystical, Juvenile, Paul Wall, Chamillionaire, Lil Flip. He's toured overseas in England, New Zealand, and all across the US. Puntin has won the Texas Gospel Rapper of the Year (Texas Gospel Excellence Awards) 2008, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, and 2014. His mission is to touch lives through his musical gift, while continuing to go higher in life. |
