Singer-Songwriter Robin Smith, first got a taste of and addiction to the stage at the tender age of seven. It was while she performed a rendition of 'Boys to Men's' "Thank You" in front of a bustling crowd at a "Catfish Days" celebration in her Northern Minnesota small town. At the age of 17, Robin saved her Dairy Queen earnings to buy what would be her greatest accessory to her voice, her first acoustic guitar.
Robin's lyrics not only paint an intimate portrait of her own life, but also of the lives she sees around her. Her keen ability to explain some of life's stickiest situations, of love lost and love found in her lyrics is poetic yet playful. The combinations of her powerful strumming, soulful voice and metaphorical words create a sound that can stop the most important of conversations in mid-sentence. Robin followed her dream of performing, and after several years of honing her talents on the local Midwestern stages, she packed up and moved South to New Orleans in the spring of 2004. Robin hit the New Orleans scene hard and quickly moved up the ranks to grace the stages of such well known NOLA venues as 'The House of Blues' and 'Margaritaville'. In 2005, Robin Smith felt a pull to the West and transplanted herself to the "Live Music Capital of the World", Austin, Texas. Robin immediately knew this was where she belonged. She quickly was embraced by the Austin music scene and became a familiar and sought after face in the establishments around town. Robin has collaborated with several other local musicians and is regularly requested to lend her unique voice to other artists looking for that extra "umph" to their own songs. Currently, Robin is keeping her dreams alive and is working hard on completing her first album. She is taking requests to play in cities across the country. She looks forward to seeing where her wings take her next.... |
